"Computer begin recording personal log Commodore Paul Sleeford.
Commodore, bloody hell, I thought in the academy I'd be lucky to get to Lieutenant. The call to the admirals office came out of the blue, shore leave had just started and the majority of the crew had left to all point of Risa, some willingly, others mentioning no names Mr Sleeford had to be dragged.
Walking into the Oldman's office, he was sat at his desk in full dress uniform, i found it strange, but then on this ship, nothings too strange now.
After he grabbed a couple of coffees he started to chat about my career path and where it was heading, the usual captain to department head speech, then he dopped the promotion and new position. To be honest it was a good job I was sitting down, otherwise I'd have been on the deck.
Anyway long story much shorter, I spent the rest of the morning taking my gold tunics, best dress and parade dress to the QM department and change them to the command variant, the placing of the rank pip on the collars was surreal. Now I had an entire ships compliment to look after, cajole, sort of disputes for, as well as several department heads asking, demanding, complaining, everything I used to do.
I must call home during shore leave, otherwise Mum, Jan and Grannie will never speak to me again........errrm I wonder..
